Playing Up Curves at Phillips Park
We’ve been able to design many different home styles in Washington’s Phillips Park since we performed the neighborhood’s initial development planning there, from stone Colonial to classic Georgian. Now, our latest design there is complete: A French house with a graceful slate roof and whitewashed brick walls.
The foyer is designed to be a play on curves and natural light: A curving stairway sinuously frames an arched opening into a light-filled kitchen,
while a deep-cut, oval window shaft illuminates the stairwell and amplifies the curvaceous effect of the winding stair and bannister.
The entry hall and stair in this just-completed French-styled house play curve against curve, modulated by natural light. Chevy Chase designer Amy Zantzinger, meanwhile, is orchestrating finish, tile and hardware selections throughout the home.
