A Norman Style Residence

Back | Next

Rear Facade

The client for this house, which is located in West Virginia on a four acre site, wished to create a Norman-Style residence among the established trees and landscape. The client desired materials and a design which would reflect solidity, age, and tradition.

The massing of the house, which uses the illusion of additions and the highly contoured landscape to screen much of the house from public view, was in response to the clients’ desire for the house to appear modest from the street and for privacy. This sensitive approach for the extensive program of the house allows elements, such as the indoor lap pool, to be completely hidden from view, both from the street and from the house.

The overall feel of this home is that of elegance and warmth.  The custom style, attention to detail, and beautiful and natural gardens make this home a wonderful retreat.
