Originally from Orwell, Vermont, Alec attended the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts in New Hampshire (B.A. Liberal Arts), and the University of Notre Dame (M. Arch). Vernacular building traditions have long been an interest, but studying in Rome while in college sealed Alec’s commitment to pursue architecture. At BVA since 2017, Alec uses both ends of the technology spectrum, from watercolor rendering to AutoCAD and Sketchup, to assist in developing and refining design possibilities. He particularly enjoys working on building sections for the clarity they bring to a design. Alec participates in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art and L’Enfants, a group affiliated with the ICAA for young architects. He regularly takes advantage of being able to walk or bike to work through the historic neighborhood of Georgetown.
