In his role at BVA, Matthew is a manager, designer, mentor, and keeper of codes and zoning. The science of building — the part of architecture that most people don’t see, but which shape beautiful interiors and exteriors — is his particular area of expertise and interest. Born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Matthew grew up in Cold Spring Harbor, New York and attended the University of Colorado for his undergraduate degree in History/Geography. Inspired in part by watching his father design and direct the construction of his family’s home, Matthew went on to attend Boston Architectural College and Catholic University, where he earned his master’s degree in architecture. At BarnesVanze Architects since 2004, Matthew continually appreciates every opportunity to create and is fulfilled working on BVA’s range of commissions with talented colleagues and allied building professionals.
