Stefan hails from the western Pennsylvania Pittsburgh area. An avid traveler and architectural blogger, he was inspired from a young age by family trips and his grandfather who was an architect. Stefan subsequently studied architecture at Carnegie Mellon University (B. Arch and B.A. in Art History). Uninspired, however, by the work at large commercial firms where he began his career, Stefan arrived at BarnesVanze Architects in 2006 where he continues to love his work on immensely personal projects for great clients and is happy helping them bring their dream houses to life. Green technologies are also of great interest and Stefan enjoys keeping up with the rapid advances to integrate energy-efficient solutions to BVA’s work. Stefan serves on the boards of the ICAA Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter and the Cleveland Park Historical Society and participates on the Cleveland Park Architectural Review Committee. He is also the creator and editor of the ArchitectDesignBlog, which he established to connect to others who share his interest in classical architecture and design.
