Alec Howerton

Alec is a Maryland native whose interest in architecture grew from an appreciation for the character of the built environment across the region. He is especially drawn to work that reflects a strong sense of place, where proportion, material, and detail come together to create lasting and thoughtful design. He joined BVA in 2026 for its dedication to craftsmanship and its ability to translate traditional principles into refined residential work.

Alec earned his B.A. in Architecture with concentrations in architectural history and art history, while later earning his M.Arch from the University of Maryland. His academic work strengthened his understanding of precedent and the cultural continuity of design in various civic, commercial, and residential studios. At BVA, he supports residential projects through drafting, 3-D modeling, and enjoys collaborating with the studio’s talented team.
