Mary Boualy

Mary was born in Virginia and raised in Maryland, which led her to develop an early appreciation for history and community and influenced her design approach. She received her B.S. in Architecture, Master of Architecture as well as an Urban Design certificate from the University of Maryland. Her work and appreciation reflect a relationship between the past and present and has been thoughtfully designed to support both innovation and continuity.

Mary joined BVA to pursue a practice that emphasizes culture, craftsmanship, and community while also ensuring the work is rooted in both tradition and forward-thinking design. She is particularly interested in how the elements of a building help create a sense of place and how they can tell a larger story. Outside of work, she enjoys painting, drawing, and exploring the diverse food culture.
