Stephen Wm. Howard
Originally from the rural hill country of northeastern Pennsylvania, Stephen’s youthful experience of a historic performing arts center created a lasting desire to compose the setting in which people live their lives. He received his undergraduate degree studying architecture at Judson University, which was followed by a Master’s degree in Architecture with a concentration in history and preservation from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Previously employed at Hartman Cox, where BVA’s founding principals also honed their early careers, Stephen pursued a position at BarnesVanze to specifically focus on residential work. Stephen arrived at BVA in 2016, where he values the firm’s commitment to design and beauty. A board member of the ICAA Washington Mid-Atlantic Chapter, he serves as Chair of the John Russell Pope Awards and on the committee for L’Enfants, the young professionals group. Stephen is also sacristan and arts committee member at Restoration Anglican Church.
