This home, on a wooded, steeply sloped property was designed for a large, extended family. The home, based on an “H” plan, provides privacy for both the main family and the in-laws, respecting the neighborhood and surrounding homes with colonial massing, contextual materials, and traditional details. In keeping with the owner’s tastes, most of the interior remains traditional, while the in-laws’ wing is thoroughly modern. The home is sited to allow for a graceful approach through to a rear garden courtyard and the forest beyond.
