Oasis in the City

This new pool and pool house capped a long process of completing an urban oasis. Years before, we had remodeled and added to the original Spanish Revival home; the house was gutted, and unfortunate additions were removed and replaced with stylistically sympathetic ones. What remained to be done was capturing the open space that the L-shaped plan embraced for family use. Maneuvering around tight city regulations, we designed a pool on axis with the last addition and main living space. A new pool house, talking to the main house stylistically, sits on its plinth, looking out over the pool and large major urban park.
