Updated Elegance

Twenty years after we had completed their new home in a Belgian manor style, our clients asked the same design team, BVA and Solís Betancourt & Sherrill Interiors, to modernize and expand the kitchen and family wing of the house. The seamless interplay between exterior and interior space became the overarching design theme. The renovation and expansion included an outdoor loggia with bronze doors, creating a light-filled informal dining space that connects to the kitchen, family room, and garden. Outside the dining space is a new rattan-covered metal pergola offering shaded outside dining. We designed the space as a lightweight foil to the solid architecture of the home. A stone counter and bi-folding windows create an outdoor bar that our clients can access directly from the kitchen. Additionally, we updated the kitchen and family room for a clean, modern environment for family living and informal entertaining.
